Learning Through Play
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” – Fred Rogers
Children are naturally curious about their surroundings. A Learning Environment that promotes play and discovery supports a child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Children will learn how to explore materials freely, make their own independent choices, feel a sense of community, become problem solvers, develop a love for literacy, build on numeracy skills, develop strong fine motor skills, make healthy food decisions and show overall
strong readiness for school!
As a previous HighScope Infant and Toddler Teacher ( certified 2013 ) and an Early Educator for the School Board (2013-2015), I am happy to follow a program that meets all children's stages of development.
ELECT- Early Learning for Every Child Today: A Framework for Ontario Early Childhood Settings describes how young children learn and develop, and provides a guide for curriculum in Ontario’s early childhood settings. Early Learning for Every Child Today is a Best Start initiative that emerged from the work of the Best Start Expert Panel on Early Learning – a panel of professionals from the early childhood education and the formal education sectors in Ontario.
